BRIDGEND SPORTS 54 RHIGOS 5

We travelled to Bridgend with just 17 players for one reason or another and got spanked by 50 points and to be fair some of our back play was simply not good enough. We held up pretty well until half time mainly because our pack worked their socks off and actually dominated the scrums with a purple patch of 15 minutes that should have resulted in at least 1 score. 

Once Sos limped off at half time we struggled big time behind the scrum and in broken play where the Bridgend Sports lads were simply too fast and too skillful and ran in try after try almost unopposed a classic case of boys against men.

However we did rally strongly in the last 10 minutes and after a series of drives and phases captain Richard Smith went over for a well deserved try. In fact Richard had led from the front all day and him and his pack never stopped trying even though the entire back row were playing out of position they gave their all and hats off to Dan Wickens and Dan Dudley for their efforts.

Mark was bitterly disappointed with the performance. We have had the best pre season training ever this year. We have had good numbers in most training sessions but we have simply under performed on the field falling away badly to Birchgrove and now Bridgend Sports and Fairwater, and letting Glais back into the game to pinch the result. Our only win has been home to Banwen and that was a real battle.

Still onward and upward we must aim, Alltwen at home next Saturday with early 1.30 kick off.
