Lost 17 - 7 to Resolven yesterday in the first pre season friendly of 2015-16 but there were huge positives everywhere. Training has been all about fitness levels and going into the last 5 minutes of the third 25 we were up there competing and after the match most players I spoke to said they had much more petrol in the tank.

Our first taste of contact, a new midfield, a new look back three and to be honest we conceded the first try rather easily. but after that we were very solid defensively throughout the first period. In the second period again we lost concentration and Resolven punished us with a good try before we tightened up and deservedly got on back through Sos well converted by Brandon. In the third and final 25 minute spell Resolven claimed a very dodgy try after the referee seemed to get in the way of our defenders but all in all Resolven were worth their win but only just. 

Mike Lovatt was really chuffed with the pack performance and although we couldn't scrummage because the props were away we competed gamely with great spirit and considerable skill against far bigger and heavier opponents.

Well done the lads and roll on next Saturday when we play New Dock Stars home in the last friendly before the season starts.
